Lady Lions Headed to State! Minerva Girls Golf Qualifies for OHSAA Championship

MINERVA, OH — The Minerva Varsity Girls Golf Team is celebrating a historic achievement, as they have qualified for the 2025 OHSAA Girls Division I Golf State Championship! This marks the third time in school history the Lady Lions have earned a trip to the state meet.

The team, coached by Head Girls Coach Kenny Beaumariage, punched its ticket last week by claiming the highly competitive OHSAA Division One East District Title. Their district performance solidified their standing as one of the top programs in the state.

The Lady Lions will compete on Sunday, October 12, and Monday, October 13, at the prestigious Akron Firestone Country Club, taking on the challenging Fazio Course.

"I couldn't be more proud of these girls," said Coach Beaumariage. "They have worked hard all season, and winning the District Title was a tremendous accomplishment. Now, they get to test their skills on one of the most storied golf courses at the OHSAA State Championships."

The Minerva girls are set to tee off early Sunday morning and have been paired with Cincinnati Anderson High School for the opening round of play. The community is encouraged to send their support and congratulations as the Lady Lions pursue a state title.

The Minerva community wishes Coach Beaumariage and the Lady Lions the best of luck at the State Championship!

Minerva Freshmen Get Hands-On Look at Local Industry During Manufacturing Tour

MINERVA, OH – Minerva High School's commitment to career exploration was on full display this week as the Freshman class participated in the annual Minerva Manufacturing Day Tour on Thursday and Friday. This successful, two-day event provided 9th-grade students with a firsthand look at the diverse and high-tech career paths available in their own community.

The entire Freshman class embarked on the High School Manufacturing Tour, gaining exposure to essential local operations. Students travelled to several key facilities, including:
The Minerva Fire Department offering insight into essential community services and the specialized equipment they use.
Regal Metal Products, where students learned about precision stamping and manufacturing for the automotive and agricultural industries.
Durafin Tube, a leader in heat exchanger tubing, showcases complex fabrication and quality control processes.

In addition to the site visits, PCC Airfoils, which manufactures complex turbine components for aircraft engines, brought their presentation directly to the high school, ensuring all freshmen could learn about the company's advanced technology and career opportunities.

Minerva High School Principal Andy Mangun noted, "This was another successful opportunity to hopefully inspire our students to consider different career paths after graduating. We are incredibly proud of the Minerva businesses that open their doors to help shape our future workforce."

Minerva High School extends gratitude to all of our local businesses for providing these great opportunities and for their continued partnership in educating the next generation of Minerva's workforce.

#MinervaPride Former Minerva student, Daniel Talkington, came home to speak to the Spanish 2 and 3 classes, along with the Anatomy and Physical Sciences classes! As a resident neurologist, Daniel shared powerful insights on the importance of language, culture, and science—highlighting how vital they are in everyday life and in a medical career. He is seen here speaking with MHS student interested in the medical field, Rainique Simmons. We love seeing our alumni inspire the next generation!
