Minerva High School to Crown 2025 Homecoming Royalty Friday 👑

Minerva High School is ready to light up the night as it prepares to crown its 2025 Homecoming King and Queen on Friday, September 26th, before the Lions' football game against West Branch. The excitement is building with this year's theme: "Neon Nights." The festivities will kick off earlier in the day with a traditional homecoming assembly for the student body.

Meet the Distinguished 2025 Fall Homecoming Court
This year's homecoming court features an impressive group of seniors, each showcasing dedication to academics, athletics, and community involvement.

The Queen Candidates include five outstanding young women:
Miss Ariana Drake is the daughter of Richard and Lisa Bernardi. Ariana is active in the Marching Band and Chamber Choir. She attends the Damascus Friends Church and enjoys reading and nature walks. She plans to pursue a degree in Integrated Arts at Kent State University.

Miss Emily Lautzenheiser, daughter of Keith and DeeDee Lautzenheiser, is a whirlwind of activity at MHS, holding titles such as Pep Club President and Senior Class Secretary. She is involved in Cheerleading, the National Honor Society, and SADD, and plans to pursue a degree in Dietetics and Nutrition at the University of Miami or Bowling Green University.

Miss Kyleigh Lippincott, daughter of Ryan and Sara Lippincott, balances three sports (Soccer, Basketball, and Track) with membership in the National Honor Society and Student Council. She plans to continue her academic and athletic career at the collegiate level, pursuing a degree in Exercise Science.

Miss Macy Stowe, daughter of Danny and Jessica Stowe, serves as the Senior Class Treasurer and is active in the Youth Leadership Academy and National Honor Society. Macy plans to attend college to study Environmental Science or Biomedical Engineering.

Finally, Miss Rachel Weaver, daughter of Matthew & Amy Weaver, is the current FFA President and a member of the Soccer, Wrestling, and Softball teams. Rachel plans to continue her softball career at the collegiate level while majoring in Secondary Mathematics Education.

The King Candidates are equally distinguished:
Mr. David Bryan, son of Jack and Heather Bryan, is the Debate Club President and Senior Class Vice President, heavily involved in MHS music groups (Marching, Concert, Steel Drum, and Jazz Bands). David plans to major in Cyber Security and Criminal Justice at The University of Mount Union.

Mr. Julian Elliott, son of Joshua and Jessica Elliott, is the Drum Major of the Marching Band and Vice President of the National Honor Society. He is active in Cross Country and the Lion News Network. Julian plans to enlist in the National Guard or Air National Guard after graduation.

Mr. Rowen Hoffee, son of Mike and Angie Hoffee, is a member of the Cross Country, Track, and Basketball teams and serves as the National Honor Society Secretary. Rowen plans to attend college to continue his running career.

Mr. Nate Linkous, son of Chad and Maggie Linkous, is a member of the Football and Track teams and the Little Lion/Big Lion Mentorship Program. Nate plans to attend college and major in teaching.

And Mr. Braydon Wood, son of Mike and Brooke Wood, rounds out the court. He is active in Golf, Basketball, and Baseball, and serves as the treasurer of the National Honor Society. Braydon plans to continue playing baseball at the collegiate level while pursuing a degree in Architectural Engineering.

The Minerva community congratulates the entire court and looks forward to a night of football and celebration. Go Lions! 🦁🏈

Dear Minerva Local Families,

As part of our ongoing commitment to student safety, Minerva High School and Middle School students were recently trained on the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System (Say Something ARS). We want to ensure that all community members are aware of this valuable resource and are encouraged to use it to report any concerns.

The Say Something ARS is a crucial tool that allows students in grades 4-12 to privately and safely share concerns about safety threats or a classmate at risk of self-harm. By taking action when warning signs are observed, we can provide intervention and assistance before a crisis occurs.
You can submit a tip anonymously through multiple reporting options:

On Friday, September 19th, we are thrilled to welcome Pro Football Hall of Famer Randall McDaniel to speak to our MHS students! We are so excited for him to share his experiences and inspiring messages with our staff and students.

Randall McDaniel is a former NFL guard who played for the Minnesota Vikings and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A 12-time Pro Bowl selection and 9-time First-Team All-Pro, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest offensive linemen in NFL history. Known for his exceptional strength and athleticism, McDaniel was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009. Beyond his football career, he is a dedicated advocate for education and youth development, making his visit a special opportunity for our students to learn from a true legend both on and off the field.

This program is brought to us by the HOF Kempthorn Program. The link below is a video courtesy of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Minerva Local Schools Earns 4-Star Overall Rating on State Report Card!

MINERVA, Ohio – September 15, 2025 – Minerva Local Schools today announced it has earned an overall rating of 4 out of 5 stars on the 2024-2025 Ohio School Report Card, released by the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce (ODEW). The report card provides a detailed look at the performance of districts and schools across the state, celebrating successes and identifying areas for growth.
The state's rating system evaluates districts in various categories, with a 3-star rating indicating that state expectations have been met. Minerva Local Schools is proud to have met or exceeded state standards in most rated areas, a testament to the collaborative effort between district staff, students, families, and the community.

District Performance Highlights 🌟
The district’s ratings for the 2024-2025 school year are as follows:
Overall Rating: 4 Stars
Gap Closing: 5 Stars (Significantly exceeds state standards for vulnerable student populations)
Graduation Rate: 4 Stars
Achievement: 3 Stars
Progress: 3 Stars
College, Career, Workforce, and Military Readiness: 3 Stars
Early Literacy: 2 Stars

The district achieved a perfect 5-star rating in Gap Closing, which measures the district’s success in improving performance for all student subgroups.
“I am incredibly proud of our students, staff, and district at large,” said Mark Scott, Superintendent of Minerva Local Schools. “While we certainly know the report card only provides a small part of what we do to support children every day, it speaks volumes about the hard work and dedication of our students and staff. We will continue our tireless approach to our district mission of ‘Every Child, Every Minute, Every Day.’”

Scott Cassidy, Curriculum Director, commented on the results. “We are thrilled to have achieved a 4-star rating! It is a measure of many different aspects of our district and reflects our staff’s commitment to all students. In particular, we are very proud of our 5-star Gap Closing score. This indicates that we are growing all student populations throughout the school year and is something our school community is very proud of.”

The report card also highlights the district's financial efficiency, noting exceptional achievement while spending less per student than the state average.
